Inspiring Arts And Design Festival To Open In Malta This Week
What used to be MCAST’s end of year exhibition has now turned into an inspiring arts and design festival that seeks to impress.
The ICA Festival takes place on MCAST campus, overlooking the Bingemma lines on the outskirts of Mosta. Opening on Friday, the ICA Festival runs until 4th July.
The event will include a drive-in cinema, lots of games, a movement workshop on the dancefloor and a Behance Review event. Here’s some more info about the parts you definitely shouldn’t miss.
1. Behance Portfolio Review
When: July 4th at 6pm
Get your art portfolios reviewed by experts and peers – the best feedback exercise you’ll ever experience. The review is designed by Behance, the most important online showcase for artists.
2. Drive-in cinema (with popcorn and candy floss)
When: July 2nd at 8.30pm
Enjoy popcorn in your car whilst watching the films of MCAST students on a big screen.
3. Workshop on how to make money from your art
July 3rd: 7.30pm
Elaine Falzon from the Arts Council talks funding for artists.
4. Dance workshop with ZfinMalta
When: June 30th at 8.15pm
An interactive workshop for dancers and those who have never dared dancing before, coordinated by Malta’s national dance company.
5. Make-your-own-video-game workshop
When: July 4th at 5pm
Apparently, anyone can design a short and fun game with no experience. The first part of the workshop starts with an introduction to the fundamentals of game design, and gives you the space to develop your own ideas into a short and fun simple analogue prototype (board, card, you name it!). After playing these prototypes, you’ll start developing them digitally using Unity software. Once again, no coding experience is required. Assistance and guidance will be provided throughout.
There’s even an app to guide you through the event.
