Mediterranean Letters: An Evening Where Music And Poetry Meet
Malta is set for an evocative night of music and poetry with Mediterranean Letters, taking place on 3rd November at 7.30 pm in the Green Room of Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta.
This special evening will explore the rich cultural tapestry of the Mediterranean, blending classical music with literary voices from across the region.
The concert features violinist Justyna Zanko and pianist Julia Miller, performing a diverse programme inspired by Mediterranean sounds, including works by Scalero, Theodorakis, Sarasate, Saint-Saëns, Bizet, Charles Camilleri, and Szymanowski.
The music will be interwoven with readings from celebrated poets like Eugenio Montale, Antonio Machado, Paul Verlaine, John Portelli, and Federico García Lorca, performed by Maltese actor Natalie Naudi, creating a seamless dialogue between word and sound.
The evening promises to take audiences on a journey through Romantic to contemporary styles, exploring the landscapes, rhythms, and atmospheres of the Mediterranean world. The night will conclude with a wine reception courtesy of Marsovin Wines, perfect for continuing the conversation and soaking in the inspiration.
About the performers:

Justyna Zanko (Violin) – A world-renowned Polish violinist, soloist, and chamber musician, Justyna has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and Mozarteum Salzburg. She is the Artistic Director of VirtuClassic and President of the Virtuoso Music Foundation, known for her technical brilliance and emotional depth.

Julia Miller (Piano) – A Polish pianist based in Malta since 2012, Julia has performed with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and at festivals including the Malta Baroque Festival and Festival Musicale delle Nazioni in Rome. She is completing her Doctorate in Music at the University of Malta, focusing on female composers of the late 19th century.

Natalie Naudi (Narration & Poetry) – A multifaceted Maltese artist with a background in music, theatre, and broadcasting, Natalie has appeared on TVM programmes and in productions including Pagliacci, La Bohème, and The Women of the George Cross Island.
Mediterranean Letters promises to be a night of reflection, colour, and emotion, celebrating the shared heritage, music, and poetry of the Mediterranean region.
