Calling all star-gazers and astronomy enthusiasts!

Have you ever seen a meteor shower? Well, if not, make sure to keep the night of 12th August free.

The Perseid meteor shower is the largest meteor shower of the year which is active every mid-July to late August.

This year, the meteor shower will peak from 12th-13th August, and although there is a full Moon two days before the peak, the Perseid meteor shower 2025 phase is forecast to bring us a great celestial display.

The Perseids originate from the debris left by the comet Swift-Tuttle, which orbits the sun once every 133 years, passing by Earth last in 1992.

During the peak, observers can see up to 60-100 meteors per hour under ideal conditions, with some years producing even higher rates. For the best experience, find a viewing spot away from light pollution like Fomm Ir-Riħ and Dingli Cliffs.

The meteors appear to radiate out from the constellation Perseus, which is why these particular showers were coined “the Perseids”.

So grab that special someone, a group of friends or even your furry pals and set out on a night of chill vibes away from the noise and distractions of life. Bring blankets or chairs, snacks and drinks, and maybe even build a fire.

Sit back, relax, adjust your eyes to the dark for around 20 minutes, and get ready to see those meteors fall.

Will you be going to watch the Perseids this year?
