Another week has come and gone, and with it the clouds and dust have been swept away from Malta. So with the sun shining and a nice breeze playing with our hair, here are some events that will help you take advantage of this weekend’s beautiful weather.

Thursday 9th May

1. A city in green

Valletta (or at least St. George’s Square) is being transformed back into a green paradise this weekend, and it all kicks off today.

The sixth edition of the Valletta Green Festival has returned to Malta, with the aim to raise awareness about the dangers of single-use plastics while using floral arrangements to show the beauty of our islands and the dangers of pollution.

2. Learn the experiences of the island’s refugees

Our Island II: Personal Accounts of Refugees in Malta consists of an eye-opening and heartbreaking collection of stories from refugees that passed through or stayed in Malta.

Some stories talk about the fears of not having proper documentation, while others describe the “pure joy” at being reunited with family members.

The Aria complex will be hosting the launch of a new slot game named after power metal band Sabaton.

The band will actually be performing the first concert of their new tour at Aria on Friday before going on to perform at massive festivals like Rock Am Ring in Germany and Hellfest in France.

4. Mechs, Techs and Robotics

The Malta Robotics Olympiad (MRO) and Gadgets Expo is back and better than ever. With amazing activities, great gadgets and terrific technology, you don’t want to miss any of the exciting exhibitions. And rumour has it that an Aibo dog will be in attendance, which is the goodest machine ever!

5. You could smell the emotions

The contemporary dance performance Perfume is here to delight and entertain as the award winning Moveo Dance company are bringing an incredible adaptation of the Patrick Suskind novel of the same name.

The performance, choreographed by Dorian Mallia, explores the emotional power and meaning behind different smells.
