THIS WEEKEND: Malta’s Getting Three Days Of Sunshine, Camping, Food And Constant Electronic Music
This weekend sees the kickoff of Malta’s Summer Sonic Festival 2017, and now that it’s gotten to its fourth edition, it’s set to be one for the books.
The lineup includes over 30 local DJs, so pretty much all your favourite techno, psy, trance, acid, underground electronic artists, but it doesn’t stop there. International artists from the UK, India, Scotland and Japan will also be gracing the two stages which have been specially set up for the occasion.
Once again, The Warehouse Club, set on the scenic southwestern edge of the island, will be hosting the festival. Apart from enjoying breathtaking views of the Mediterranean (and a cheeky cameo by Filfla from the right angle) on the outside, the venue also features a massive interior area.
Some highlights from the lineup include the alternative scene’s Danjeli and YEWS, who have recently been making waves in the electronic scene, and Acidulant, who had joined them earlier last year for the infamous Party Bil-Bajd (which was also held in the same venue).
Techno heavyweights like Haar, Brian James, and Manthrax will also be making an appearance, making sure that there’s something for absolutely every type of electronic music fan.
Unlike most festivals in Malta, Summer Sonic seems to wants to make the most of the beautiful weather we’re getting this weekend, because music will be starting at 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Summer Sonic will also be hosting a camping area, a chill out area and food stalls, for that full festival vibe.
