Cospicua’s Carnival is returning this weekend… and it’s bringing back a Swiss tradition that’s been given an extra Maltese oomph.

Bormla’s Carnival Fiesta is set to yet again pull out all the stops for its second year, with everything kicking off on Friday 9th near the popular Santa Liena tunnels.

There’s a long programme of events for revellers visiting the free festivities over the weekend, from line dancing to traditional makjetti. But the star of the show is definitely the Fiesta Wheel… which was born all the way in Switzerland.

A decorative structure with fireworks at the top, the Fiesta Wheel will once again be set up right in front of the popular tunnels, with a prominent person chosen to set it off to mark the beginning of the celebrations.
