Yarn Boobies: Meet The 30 Women Crafting Beautiful Creations And Offering Support To Maltese Breast Cancer Survivors
The lovely people over at Jacob's Brew Cafe have set their sights on a new cause
The crew at Jacob’s Brew Cafe is one that always does hella good for everyone. One of the projects they have embarked on recently is their Craft&Coffee for Charity organisation, and they're taking October by storm with some adorable creations.
Kicked off last year by Becky Pace Bajona, the Craft&Coffee for Charity initiative started out as a really small gathering of kick-ass women knitting cool and cosy blankets. Now, it's turned into a 30-woman strong team of uncrushable talent.
Apart from encouraging and funding projects at their very own meeting hub, these guys are also donating a percentage of their profits to local NGO Survivors Malta. These ladies have been working hand in hand with Valerie McKay and Becky to craft items for local charity, and their latest initiative is perfectly timed with Breast Cancer Awareness.
Born after a meeting with the cancer support group Aurora Support Services, the idea was for The Craft&Coffee group to offer their Pamper Pouches to cancer patients undergoing treatment at the Oncology Unit.
After that, Becky was shown the mythical yarn boob, a creation which is used in the United States and England to fill out the bras of breast cancer patients who underwent mastectomies.
After a successful trial, the super women at Craft& Coffee for Charity produced over 20 yarn boobies.
These funbags will be making their big debut at Jacob’s Brew in Marsascala on the 29th of October. They will be distributed to breast cancer survivors with the help of Europa Donna, ABCF support group and Aurora.
