This Maltese Man’s Multiple Sclerosis Might Be Getting Worse, But His Beloved Dog Friend Is Always There To Put A Smile On His Friend

Multiple Sclerosis can be a tough condition to deal with, but sometimes, it’s the littlest things in life that really help ground us. Tara Bonello reminded everyone just this on a post in Is-Salott this morning.

Tara shared some photos of her husband Mark, who’s been suffering from MS for the last 19 years. A condition which heavily affects the central nervous system and the brain, MS can even effect one’s ability to walk. Sadly, there is still no available cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

“Unfortunately, last tests show that he has gone worse,” Tara told the members of the online forum. “Mark finds lots of happiness in his daughter especially, and Spice, our amazing dog who’s around him 24/7.”

And in a compilation of photos which Tara said are only some of “the millions we have at home”, the pair can be seen having the time of their lives.

Spice has been an amazing gift to Mark and Tara’s family. The gentle giant has helped the whole family deal with MS, something which undoubtedly is very hard to get used to.

Since Mark recently lost the ability to walk, Spice is also always there to be a fuzzy back to hold on to when Mark would need to pick himself up from the ground, ready with a beaming smile and endless patience.

Mark and Spice’s beautiful relationship has actually already been documented before.

Back in 2015, the family had made the news when Spice became the subject of online controversy. A number of neighbours had even sent a letter to the Bonellos, telling them to remove the dog from their apartment on account of his barking. After winning a court case which was heavily supported by a nearly 5,000 signatories-strong petition, however, Spice is still very much a part of the family.

A couple of months before the decision was taken, Mark had said in an interview that if someone had to take Spice away, it would be as if they took his legs.

Tara’s post this morning in fact even had a reference to that, but there was no anger here.

“The gist of this post is to cause awareness,” Tara said. “To not be selfish and inflict harm and damage to any family especially those that have health issues. To be responsible pet owners. To be responsible neighbours. Deceit is a dirty game.”
