This Maltese Woman’s Facebook Post Will Make All House-Hunters’ Blood Boil

A Maltese woman’s post in a popular property-listing Facebook page has tapped into all the frustrations people looking for a home in Malta feel on a daily basis.

Wasting no time beating around the bush the post dives straight into a list of things that anger her, and judging by the reaction, she’s not the only one.

“I’m tired of reading posts of properties for sale with the following words.”

Rubs Post

1. Large

“When they are actually not. How can a property under 90sqr metres be considered as large? Even without corridors it is not large. Words such as spacious or comfortable may be more fitting but not large.”

2. Luxuriously finished

“When they are finished in a standard manner. Nowadays a certain level of finishes is expected unless the property is sold shell.”

3. Affordable

“When they are not affordable to the average person. It saddens me that a single person with an average wage is increasingly restricted nowadays. I am noticing many apartments costing over Eur200k with comments saying ‘affordable’. Affordable to who? Not to the majority of Maltese people.”

Comments under the post were also quick to point out some other pet peeves:

4. Designer finish

“When I see a property marked ‘designer finish’ I feel like asking “which designer?” in the comments.”

5. Great views

“When all you can see are rooftops or scrubland.”

6. Ideal for rental investment

“When it’s in Birkirkara and costs 250k. No honey, it’s not (and I am from there).”

What other phrases really get you when property hunting?
