This Photo Perfectly Explains Everything Wrong With Construction In Malta
A lot has been said about Malta’s construction industry. But apparently, not enough. An image of a building in Sliema that has had a section of it’s facade, for lack of a better word, “modernised”.
An image of the offending building has been making the rounds on social media, with multiple people crying out for MEPA’s intervention, while others pointed out that the three new floors didn’t even have uniform railing.
The addition of open balconies to a facade full of closed balconies was just too much to handle for most.
Many called for the man who issued the permit, rather than the architect or owner, to face consequences for such an eyesore. For most, it seemed obvious that any new additions to an older building should try to be in sympathy with the rest of the building.
It won’t be long before we’ll be seeing a complete disregard for any type of architectural sympathy between buildings. Oh wait.
