This Weekend In Malta Is All About Nostalgia
It’s not the first time that Malta’s seen parties and gigs which bring out all the nostalgic feels, but this weekend is about to go into overdrive. Here are four events all going down within the same couple of days which are sure to get you feeling all nostalgic.
Friday 23rd June
An 80s and 90s Music Festival in aid of Inspire
A street party in Kirkop featuring two of the best 80s and 90s Maltese DJs, with free entrance, and all in aid of the Inspire Foundation? Check, check and check.
A Ħamallu Party playing all the classic bangers
In the two years since CLASS started organising parties, attendance has doubled, with hundreds of people flocking to the themed nights. The first party of the year will be a celebration of everything that makes us typically Maltese, with those rough edges you can’t help but love.
Anything from the 80s to the 2010s will be played on the night, but focus will definitely be on the 00s, the chavviest of decades. And yes, there’s a dresscode.
Saturday 24th June
A celebration of all the Noughties Paceville clubs
If you miss the good old Paceville days from the last decade, Bring It Back is just the night for you. Gianpula will be transforming into legendary clubs like Axis, Sugar Shake and Sabor with a line-up of DJs straight out of the 00s. Never has a name been so apt.
Sunday 25th June
One of Malta’s biggest 90s bands makes a comeback
Anyone who even remotely follows the local alternative music scene has heard of Beangrowers. The trio shot to fame in the mid 90s, making it to popular international festivals like South By Southwest and interviews on Fox News. This Sunday, they’ll be taking to the stage again to perform at Malta’s newest music venue, The Garage.
