Main Road Between Mosta And Rabat To Close For ‘Several Weeks’ As Works On Chadwick Lakes Bridge Kick Off
As work on Triq Buqana enters its next phase, one of the main connections between Mosta / Mġarr and Mtarfa / Rabat will be closing to allow road works to continue and the rebuilding of a bridge to commence, Infrastructure Malta have announced.
The southbound lane of Triq il-Buqana was closed this morning at about 9am, but access will continue to be restricted over “several weeks”
“Follow signposted diversion route (marked yellow on map) through Triq San Pawl tal-Qliegħa (Ta’ Qali) when travelling from Mosta and Mġarr towards Mtarfa and Rabat,” Infrastructure Malta explained, going on to confirm that the northbound lanes of Triq il-Buqana will not be affected.
The roadworks’ next phase also include the first stage of the Chadwick Lakes Bridge rebuilding
The bridge, which is found towards the Mosta-Mġarr end of Triq Buqana, will be undergoing some much needed TLC and will actually have to be rebuilt as road-widening works continue to significantly change the lay of the land in the area.
The first part of Triq Buqana’s road-widening project, specifically the one on the Mtarfa-Rabat side that runs parallel to a narrow and winding country road loading to Ta’ Qali, has already opened with added lanes, following months of works and traffic jams there.
Infrastructure ended by thanking the public for their cooperation.
