Ryanair To Ditch Printed Boarding Passes By Summer 2025

Get ready for big changes when flying with Ryanair—printed boarding passes will no longer be accepted starting summer 2025, according to CEO Michael O’Leary.

The move is part of the airline’s push toward an entirely digital experience, with reports suggesting the change could be implemented as early as May.

In addition, Ryanair is planning to phase out airport check-in desks, requiring passengers to use their app or website to check in and access their boarding passes.

Travel expert Eoghan Corry has warned this change could cause significant disruption, with up to 20% of passengers still using printed passes.

Currently, Ryanair’s website advises passengers to use their app for digital boarding passes. While printed boarding passes are still accepted, those who require printing at check-in desks are charged a fee.

Ryanair emphasises that passengers must complete check-in personally or through someone with personal knowledge of them and their luggage, ensuring compliance with strict safety and security protocols.

Further details on the changes are expected from Ryanair soon.
