Valletta was ranked as the third best cruise destination of this year by travel experts at Bounce

This comes amid a sales surge of cruises that can partly be attributed to an 82% increase in hotel prices.

Travel experts at Bounce used data from cruise sites like Royal Caribbean and analysed factors, including the number of restaurants, romantic activities, and beaches, to reveal 2024’s best cruise destinations.

Ranking in the first spot is Santorini, Greece, followed by Cartagena, Spain, and finally Valletta, Malta at a score of 7.55 out of ten.

“The Maltese city scores 7.75 out of 10 thanks to its high proportion of sights and landmarks at a whopping 2,579 per 100,000 people, taking the top spot for the factor. Due to its small population, it also ranks first for its proportion of restaurants, at 31,045 per 100,000 people,” the study reads.

“If you’re planning your cruise around all the exciting cuisines you can experience, you’ll be spoilt for choice if you hop off the ship in Valletta. Thanks to its population of only around 5,000 people, the Maltese capital has the highest proportion of restaurants at over 31,000 per 100,000 people or 1,601 in total.”
