Watch: Live ‘Burnt Bacon Flavoured’ Cockroaches Fed To Liquorish Contestants In Disgusting Challenge

Hopefully, you weren’t eating dinner while watching last night’s Liquorish episode.
As contestants of the popular Maltese travel show gathered their bearings in Panama, they were confronted with a particularly nasty challenge.
One by one, they were told to lie on the ground and stick a pipe in their mouths as their teammates funnelled a live cockroach down the gutter.
Up first, Raisa Agius was placed in the unenviable guinea pig role but benefitted from some practical advice courtesy of her teammate Faye Busuttil, who told her to “take one bite and swallow both pieces”.

She took it without much of a fuss and told her teammates afterward that the insect was tasteless, paving the way for everyone else to power through the challenge.
Although it was a gruesome challenge, it was actually cleaner than first met the eye. The cockroaches weren’t picked up in the Panamanian wilderness but were bred under the care of Maltese naturalist Arnold Sciberras, who happens to be a former Liquorish winner.
“They were Dubia roaches from South America, and I fed them a lot of cereals beforehand so that their taste resembles burnt bacon,” Sciberras told viewers as he took a bite out of one himself.
