9 Video Games Malta Just Can’t Get Enough Of

Article Featured Image

Is there anything better than spending an evening inside, playing your favourite games with your friends after coming home after a long day of school or work?

Well, yes, but we’re not here to talk about that. Head into your cave, switch on your PC or console, take a deep breath and get ready to rage at those closest to you.

Here are some video games Maltese people just can’t get enough of.

1. Call of Duty

The first love of every Maltese boy between the ages of 12-30 ever since Call Of Duty was released back in 2003.

It’s probably the first multiplayer you’ve ever played, before the introduction of pay to win, skins, character development or any other nonsense. All you had to do was simply load up the game, select a map (Toujane, Tunisia), sniper only, search and destroy.

Also; Zombies. Fuck Yeah. #360NoScope

2. FIFA

You’ll be hard pressed finding a Maltese person who has a PlayStation who hasn’t owned at least a couple of FIFA games.

A game we’ve been playing since the faces of the players we love were still boxes, improved year after year with a graphical and tactical upgrade. We all know we shouldn’t buy into the hype, but we do it every year to the delight of EA.

But hey, you can put a price on scoring a 90 minute goal at your best friends expense. #Sweaty

3. Overwatch

Blizzard Game’s newest cash cow.

Everything this company touches turns into instant gold, and Overwatch is no exception. Revolutionising (and perfecting) team-based online first person shooters with memorable characters, great mechanics, and constant updates.

Available on both PC and console, the addictively fun nature of the game is not to be taken likely. #GenjiMain

4. League Of Legends

An online multiplayer battle arena video game that took the world, and Malta, by storm.

One of the biggest names in E-Sports, League Of Legends is a game everyone has heard of. With heavy reliability on teamwork, tactics, and team composition, it’s the type of game that you will get a little bit too addicted to with your friends.

Don’t blame us when the nerd rage hits you. #SurrenderAt20

5 & 6. Fortnite / PUBG

Two games from a relatively recent video game style that’s gained immense popularity over the last year.

A co-op survival battle royale game where your focus is being the last player or team left standing.  Dropped into the map via aircraft, you’re immediately hit with adrenaline, and urgency to find and equip the best loot.

The games push you into zone after zone, as the circle tightens around you forcing you (your team) and last remaining players to battle it out, both these games make for a super time with your friends. #ChickenDinner

7. CS:GO

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the world’s biggest first person shooter. Initially released back in 2012 CS:GO proves that you don’t need flashy graphics to be the best, with its incredibly precise and entertaining gameplay.

Can you even call yourself a gamer if you haven’t played at least 100 hours of this classic? #Ninja-Defuse

8. Hearthstone

A wholesome family friendly card game, that will have you performing calculations, pulling your hair out and praying to everything you hold dear.

A fantastically enjoyable game with great depth, in game progression, and is also available on almost every platform imaginable.

Hearthstone will have you up all night opening packs, crafting decks and fist pumping after every win. #HitTheFace

9. World Of Warcraft

Blizzard’s big daddy.

The father of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (or the ever-so catchy MMORPG) originally released back in 2004, it’s been hit with six expansions to date, which have improved every single aspect of the game.

A video game designed to have you obsessed with levelling up your character(s) and finding your place in its huge world, that somehow feels like it’s not going anywhere any time soon among its most hardcore fans. #Leeerrrroyyyyy
