Friday the 13th has to be one of the spookiest days of the year and what better way to celebrate the infamous day with an extra-scary, hair-rising exclusive clip from the upcoming Gozitan horror, The Weeping House of Qala?

The film follows a Maltese documentary crew who spend a day at an abandoned house in the Gozitan village of Qala.

In the clip, the crew’s engaged in a seance to summon the spirits of the abandoned Edevane mansion in the hope of solving the mystery of why a woman and her three children had disappeared there four decades ago.

“In the name of the father, of the and the holy ghost, Amen.”

But these individuals are far removed from the safety and comfort of God as they begin to hear the shrieks and laughter of a young child echo throughout the abandoned mansion…

The Weeping House of Qala stars director Mark Doneo himself, his wife Louise Doneo and his nephew Darien Doneo, as well as Lawrence Buontempo, Lindsey Brincau and Ryan Paul Mercieca.

Despite some criticism, the film was shot all in Maltese (with English subtitles) giving it a genuine and real touch that draws you in and makes you feel like you’re actually there with them.

The Weeping House of Qala premieres on the 20th of September at Eden Cinema’s prestigious Cinema 16. Doors will open at 8 pm, with the movie starting at 9 pm,  followed by a signed posters giveaway and Q&A session.

The film has been making its rounds at international film festivals, including at the Cinefantasy festival in Brazil a few weeks ago. If this clip is anything to go by for what we can expect then one thing is for sure… this movie isn’t for the faint of heart!
