A woman who got out of her car to chase down and help recover a pony in the middle of rush-hour traffic in Mrieħel has spoken out on this morning’s ordeal with an important message to the public.
“I did not upload this photo for likes,” Marilyn Baldacchino Gatt wrote on Facebook this afternoon, sharing a photo of her and the pony by the side of the road. “But I’d like to thank some people.”

Thanking everyone from “that man who shopped on the central strip to call for help” to a truck driver who actually used his vehicle to block the road and help in the pony’s recovery, Marilyn also thanked a number of people who stopped to help, including the Mrieħel Police and the Animal Welfare, who contacted the owner for the pony to be recovered.
“And one last thing… please be kind,” Marilyn ended her post by appealing to the public. “Instead of grabbing your phone and filming, ask or come down to give some help.”
Kudos Marilyn for being so quick and selfless in your rush to help!
