Happy and excited aren’t two words you’d normally use to describe a cinema packed with people ready to watch a psychological thriller, but for those who attended the premiere of the Gozitan horror film The Weeping House Of Qala, the atmosphere was exactly that.

Hundreds of cinema lovers descended on Eden’s prestigious Cinema 16  last Friday for the premiere of Mark Doneo’s highly anticipated film.

Many were eager to see what would happen to the Maltese documentary crew as spend a day at an abandoned house in the Gozitan village of Qala, so much so that cinema 16 looked absolutely packed…

Mark Doneo and the rest of his crew were there for the opening night, including a special guest who didn’t quite fit into the crowd…

Despite having already been released elsewhere in the world, last Friday marked the first time that the film was screened to a Maltese audience who were eager to see a psychological thriller filmed in their own language.

Those in attendance also had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the film’s director and receive a signed poster of the movie as well.

The Weeping House Of Qala has since received favourable reviews from those who attended with some even labeling it as ‘one of the best poltergeist movie ever made’ and a ‘masterpiece.’

If you missed out on the premier, well you’re in luck (unlike the poor sods in the movie). The Weeping House Of Qala will be screening in Eden Cinemas until October 1st so grab your tickets asap and enjoy this nail-biting thriller on the big screen!
