WATCH: Malta’s Most Adorable Party Went Down At The Rainbow Ward
For a lot of people, summer in Malta means long days spent in the sun trying out all the gorgeous beaches around the island. Sadly, that’s not everyone’s story. Puttinu Cares deals with countless heart-wrenching stories at Mater Dei Hospital’s Rainbow Ward, encountering families and children who are faced with very difficult situations such as cancer. That didn’t stop them, however, from organizing the most adorable party on the island.
The video, which is a collaboration between Gareth Degiorgio, Alana Bondin and Pierre Cordina, shows what Puttinu Cares called “a celebration of solidarity between the staff of the Rainbow Ward and the parents and children suffering from cancer”.
Partying along the corridors of the Rainbow Ward, which was recently given an awesome and colourful refurbishment courtesy of the RE/MAX & Friends Foundation, hospital staff, parents and children alike seemed to be having the time of their lives. There were even some impromptu racing in the corridors using anything from toy cars to hospital equipment!
This special day will surely be one which the residents of the ward will not forget any time soon. Some roles were even reversed in the most adorable ways possible, and it’s great to see how dedicated the nurses are to putting a smile on the children’s faces.
With summer having just kicked off, this is the perfect opportunity to donate to Puttinu Cares and spread some joy. While most of the Foundations’ funding relies on the annual Football Marathon, anyone can donate via PayPal, SMS donations, direct bank transfers or even cheques. All the information you need is available here.
This adorable video’s release coincided with the sad news that a Puttinu Cares donations piggy bank being stolen from a convenience store in Gżira, but we’re sure that, together, we can very easily cancel out that negativity and more than make up for the stolen amount.
All of this, after all, is for children and young adults who have been dealt a far tougher card in life, but who refuse to stop fighting… smiling all the way as they do so.
We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate the staff at the Rainbow Ward, headed by Rennie and his right-hand woman Angele, the heart behind Puttinu Cares and the reasons these children are always beaming notwithstanding their situations. Malta, and in extension the world, needs more people like you.
