WATCH: Maltese Cave Kayakers Reveal Valletta’s Rarely-Seen Heart In Impressive New Footage

Article Featured Image

A pair of Maltese kayakers have posted a video of themselves boating through a cave passage beneath Valletta, showing a side to the capital city that is rarely seen.

Uploaded with the caption ‘cave in Valletta, beneath Bell,’ most likely referring to the Siege Bell War Memorial.

The video begins with the two men paddling into a cave, giving us some Blue Grotto-esque vibes, with the light reflecting off the water onto the walls.

They move to a small opening at the back of the entrance, and enter a much narrower dark passage.

The two come up against a tight spot in the middle and have to pause for a while as they squeeze their way through the pinch. However, with some delicate manoeuvring, they navigate through, and the camera shows us some spectacular Maltese sunlight at the end of the tunnel.

The video ends with the men emerging into the harbour, joining a third kayaker, who likely went through ahead of them.

We’ve had plenty of beautiful shots of Valletta from a hundred different angles, but we’re not sure we ever got one from below before. We gotta admit, it’s pretty cool!
