A 15-year-old girl’s audition on X Factor Malta brought the queen of Maltese pop music to tears after performing an original song about the social struggles she faced when entering her teens.
“I wrote this song because I was passing through…I am still passing through a time where I suffer socialising and I panic a lot, and I wrote this song to raise awareness the it’s OK,” Amy Mizzi told the judges in her audition, aired last Sunday.
She then proceeded to belt out the song ‘Not Today’, with lyrics such as ‘They treat you like you’re full grown, but what they really don’t know is I’m still learning’ as the judges sat back and soaked up one beautiful piece of music.
From such a young artist, the piece tackles problems of realising maturity and moving on from past battles and it was enough to move Ira to tears as she praised the singer for her use of emotive language in her lyrics and her maturity at such a young age.
The other judges were also impressed by what they saw, and as a result Amy was sent through to Bootcamp with another four yeses from our judges.
