WATCH: This Eerie Video Of Skaters Taking To Malta’s Empty Streets Is Peak Post-Apocalypse
If you’re into unusual sights, get ready for the best possible one, courtesy of a post-apocalyptic, black and white Malta and a skater or two exploring its empty streets.
“When was the last time you saw the roads this empty?” young film-maker Benjie Zammit posted on Instagram this week, sharing a short clip of Malta’s empty main roads… and a couple of lone skaters wandering around.
The clip is as dramatic and poignant as they get, with Apparat’s Goodbye (which some might recognise from Netflix’s Dark) acting as the perfect soundtrack.
Everywhere from the Kappara Junction to Valletta’s ringroad can be seen devoid of traffic, as other hotspots like Paceville and Sliema are shot with barely a soul to be seen.
“Empty streets are saving lives,” the video beautifully ends, urging people to stay safe.
The video instantly gained a lot of traction, with many hailing it one of the best clips to come out of this whole COVID-19 saga.
