WATCH: This Expat’s 5 Reasons To NOT Move To Malta Are Legit… But The Video Really Isn’t

Meet Martin Minkov, who’s been living in Malta for a few years now. He runs his own YouTube channel with videos all themed around the island in some way or another, but one of his most recent uploads caught our attention for a very good reason.

In the video, Martin gives (in his opinion) five reasons why people should not move to Malta.

His points are valid, and echo the feelings of pretty much everyone currently living in Malta. Thing is, he then also compares Malta with China (skip to 5:10) and, well, we ain’t gonna let that slide bruh.

He calls out the traffic, but then contradicts his own statement because he doesn’t find himself stuck in it that often. Of course, for any iGaming employee living in the north of Malta and only really need to cover the coast road to get anywhere you want to be, that makes perfect sense.

Disclaimer: traffic is a thing, we know that, but until we get that Metro or people start thinking on their feet (literally) we ain’t gonna see change. ??‍♂️

He mentions the fact that we don’t have an Autobahn – or motorway/highway, to you and me – but hey, we do have dual carriageways (sometimes even makeshift ones) so… meh, swings and roundabouts.

The music takes a dip into 80s slasher territory around the 5:30 mark and then that’s about as entertaining as this shit gets.

His first three anecdotes in the “Don’t Move To Malta Because Of The Nature” series are literally things we cannot do much about.

Correction: we do have all four seasons, it is logically impossible to not have them, we just experience them differently.

As for the very long summer… well, I kinda figured that being sandwiched between Africa and the rest of the Mediterranean, there’d be no snow and of course, being 316 km², there isn’t exactly much space for a mountain to erect itself in (there’s also the issue of us not being anywhere near convergences or fault lines that would cause the mountains to have formed, but we’ll just leave him be and wonder if in the five years he spent living here he ever had to sit through an Environmental Studies lecture).

So, then he brings up the state of our nature, which… fair enough actually mate, that’s a valid point to mention.

So, we don’t exactly have a forest, that’s true, and recent news might lead you to believe that Malta is painted all over in the same hue of limestone yellow. Maybe some people prefer the beach?

The video goes on for another eight minutes, in which Martin lists off every expat’s issues with the island that, once settled, are forgotten about… because literally who doesn’t fall in love with Malta and want to stay here for the rest of their life?

Literally, no one. Not even him.

Also, this comment stuck is literally me right now.

What do you think? Do you agree with Martin’s reasons to not move to Malta?
