WATCH: This Maltese Dance Crew Just Put Human Trafficking On Full Blast
A Maltese dance group have put human trafficking in their sights for their most recent dance video. Members of the Street Elements Crew have took to locations around Malta and filmed scenes related to the cruel industry dealing in human lives mixed in with technical dancing scenes.
“The idea behind the video is to raise awareness about human trafficking, an issue which affects many women and children,” said Charlene Grange, the choreographer behind the video.
“Humans are exploited and abused every single day, and when that happens human rights and dignity are taken away from those innocent children and women,” she says.
As a longtime dancer and mentor in the Street Elements Crew, Charlene wanted to use the medium of dance to spread the message and in her own unique way.
“During our dance parts we used camouflage clothing to symbolize all those women and children who are fighting a tough battle. We believe that they are warriors and we all have to fight to stop human trafficking,” she said.
Even though it was a tough topic to tackle, she believes her crew grew from the experience.
“This project also gave me the opportunity to educate the crew on this issue. Children and adults seen in the footage never acted but all of them enjoyed this experience together and gave their best. They are super satisfied with their involvement,” she ends.
