Washington Post Calls Malta ‘Hauntingly Beautiful’

Malta has finally made it to the big leagues with a shining review from the Washington Post. The travel post describes Malta as a must-see stopover for anyone taking a trip to the Mediterranean and we couldn’t agree more.

The article talks about our extensive history, going into some of the atrocities we suffered during World War II, as well as the history of our fortifications. And of course they mention the churches, the food and the luzzu of Marsaxlokk They even manage to handle our… unique, driving skills very diplomatically.

Drivers in this sun-drenched, densely populated country of 450,000 are known for a somewhat cavalier attitude.

We do wish they had mentioned some of the more modern achievements and things to see. Like the Esplora center, The Aquarium, or any number of beautiful places to swim, but it still does a great job of enticing people to come visit.

The Washington Post is one of the Unites States’ most respected newspapers. Its journalists have won multiple Pulitzer Prizes, and it was their work that led to the uncovering of the infamous Watergate Scandal in the 1970’s. So getting their glowing recommendation is a big deal.

Beyond its history, Malta’s landscape offers a natural, if hauntingly monochrome beauty amid the brilliant blues of the surrounding sea and sky.

Glad to see our beautiful island is finally getting some international recognition!
