WATCH: Adorable Moment Adopted Maltese Dog Gets A Brand New Set Of Wheels After Paralysing Accident
Two years ago, Christa Cilia found an injured dog on the side of the road. Someone had run over the dog twice and broke her pelvis, but Christa took the dog home to help her recover. The dog got a loving home and a new name, Mercy.
Seven weeks ago, however, Mercy suddenly reverted back to her injuries, going so far as to end up paralysed in her two hind legs. Today, her owners tested out a new wheelchair for the first time… and she clearly loved it.
A video of Mercy showing off her brand new set of wheels was shared this morning on popular Facebook group RUBS PUPPY LOVE. In less than six hours, the video got over 2,600 reactions and nearly 400 comments. “We tried it for the first time and she’s actually faster than me… I’m going to have to run to keep up!” Christa told members of the Facebook group. Soon enough, everyone was falling in love with Mercy.
“We’ve been helping Mercy out with therapy like acupuncture and swimming every single day,” Christa told Lovin Malta. “And we did see improvement, but we bought her the wheelchair to help her out even more.”
“I’ve been told multiple times before that keeping Mercy and taking care of her is very expensive and I should just consider putting her down because she’s injured and sad,” Christ told Lovin Malta. “But I’ll never do that.”
Mercy looks happier than ever in her new home, no doubt thanks to the large family she’s joined. “We’ve got another six dogs, so Mercy’s now part of a family of seven dogs,” Christa smiled.
