The owner of a Yorkshire Terrier has published disturbing CCTV footage of a stranger grabbing her dog from outside her Santa Venera home and making off with it.

The grainy footage shows a man scooping up the dog, Toby, with one arm, before walking off in the other direction.

“If anyone finds Toby, please call me on 99177448,” the owner wrote on Facebook. “He was last seen in Triq Patri Frangisk Grech, Santa Venera. If anyone finds him, please return him to us. My daughter is crying for him.”

This is the second major case of a lost dog in Malta in recent days, after a Jack Russell called Buddy was allegedly spotted in Magħtab over a week after he was lost.

Wasteserv is actively searching for him, with its chairman pledging he has made it his mission to bring Buddy home.
