Emma Muscat, the beloved Maltese singer currently making her way through a series of musical challenges on the Italian TV show Amici, broke down and began to cry after being criticised for being cold.

The Maltese singer was told that when she sings, she lacks emotion, and she looks like she is not singing from the heart. 

“When I sing, I sing from the heart,” Emma said tearfully on a couch surrounded by her fellow Amici competitors. “I already sing with my heart, and it’s not something I’m going to change… I’m not going to change if you tell me to sing from the heart.”

This isn’t the first time that Emma faced criticism on the show after Amici host Paola Turci had called her cold last month, and said Emma reminded her of a Barbie doll

“You still come out as a bit cold and blocked, and I need to understand why,” Paola had asked Emma. “I would like to ask you whether you know why.”
