WATCH: Why ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’ Should Totally Happen In Malta
Despite popular belief, teachers in Malta have one hell of a tough job. Along with parents, they’re in charge of turning kids into well-rounded human beings, and they have to do it day-in-day-out it with unwavering enthusiasm and optimism. #Kerha
But there is one way their heroic efforts can be paid off – aside from the unrivalled joy of impacting a child’s life forever – and that’s ‘Outdoor Classroom Day‘. It’s an awesome initiative that already takes place in 60 countries around the world, with teachers taking their lessons outdoors, and prioritising playtime.
So why not Malta?
There’s no reason why not. But here’s a few reasons why it should happen here:
1. We’ve got the perfect weather for it
Whilst a lot of the teachers abroad have to rely on sunshine pulling through for them to put this initiative into action, we’ve practically got a 100% guarantee that we’re good on the weather front.
2. Our kids need to move around
Exercise is always good and a day of running around will be a great contribution towards school kids’ activity.
3. It will make our teachers happier
This initiative has been praised by loads of teachers who have already tried it. And we all know Maltese teachers could do with some ‘happy’.
4. It will encourage children to appreciate the Maltese countryside
With so much of it being forsaken and mistreated nowadays it makes sense for us to instil a meaningful appreciation of nature amongst our kids from an early age!
5. No, it won’t be a hassle
There’s a set of guidelines and pre-made lesson plans that teachers can use. How much easier could it possibly get?
Let’s go outside on May 18th!
And make ‘Outdoor Classroom Day’ happen in Malta – joining 430,000 other students around the world. All schoolteachers have to do to get this ball rolling is sign their class up and prepare to frolic!
Outdoor Classroom Day is coordinated globally by Project Dirt, and led in specific countries by local NGOs. It is backed by Unilever’s Dirt is Good brands around the world.
