There are lots of things to know about Malta – the roads are wild, the food is wilder, and some local animals will literally swear at you in Maltese – but a new video made for “future billionaires” lays out Malta in quite the novel way.

The video, which was spotted by Danyl Azzopardi, gives historical and geographical info such as the fact that Malta used to be the “nurse of the Mediterranean”, and the country is actually an archipelago. But by point three, the juices really flowing.

“Malta is a tax haven country,” says the soft female voice in the video. “The taxes in Malta are relatively low compared to the other countries that are part of the European Union – and that makes the island country a perfect place for retirement or setting up an official residence since you will probably afford a huge house with a pool.”

“Recently Malta is known as an offshore tax haven, and as ‘the Panama of the EU’, because of its tax system that charges the lowest tax rates on profits in the EU. Local businesses pay 35% on profits, while international ones pay 5%, which makes Malta a paradise for huge companies, but also firms linked to the Italian and Russian mafias,” she continues.

The video goes on to talk about how many billionaires buy Maltese citizenship, as well as talk about the Pilatus Bank scandal and a connection with US President Donald Trump.

It then ends by asking the viewer what kind of business they’d open in Malta – judging from what was said in the video, it’s safe to say its probably not going to be a non-profit.
