WATCH: Malta’s Andre Schembri Sends Club All The Way To Europa League
Malta’s Andre Schembri scored the decisive goal last night to send Cypriot side Apollon Limassol into the group stages of the Europa League.
Limassol had won 3-2 in the first leg of their tie against FC Midtjylland but were trailing in the second leg away against the Danish side. However, Schembri stepped up to be counted, scoring in the 50th minute to send his club through to the group stages.
It was Schembri’s fourth Europa League goal for Limassol since he joined them this summer, and he is now set to become the second Maltese player to feature in the competition after Luke Dimech played for Cypriot club AEK Larnaca in the 2011/12 campaign.
Schembri and his fellow Limassol teammates will discover who they will face in the group when the draw is made later on this afternoon.
