WATCH: Malta’s Latest Dance Anthem Is Here To Take Over Summer

Dance music and Malta get on like the sun and the sea, and the latest anthem to hit the local airwaves is promising to be one of the season’s catchiest. Released earlier today, I Don’t Know You is actually the debut track by Neon Culture, a new project helmed by local house music DJ Jeremy Tabone.

“Back in early 2017, I had decided to make this dream project of mine a reality,” Jeremy told Lovin Malta. “I had a few songs ready which I had worked on in the past, but I needed a singer. So I put a request up on Facebook, and amongst the many that replied, Eliza was one of them!”

That’s Eliza Borg Rizzo, who many fans of the Maltese music scene will instantly recognise. Eliza has been the face and voice of many local projects before, from behemoths Tribali to the aptly-named Ellie & The Oscars.

“The good things is that I’ve known Eliza for many years and I can say that she is a natural when it comes to music and her track record speaks for itself,” Jeremy told Lovin Malta. “So I messaged back to meet up and share my music with her. We started jamming, and we both realised that we had something good brewing. Just like that, Neon Culture was born.”

I Don’t Know You has everything you could ever want from a dance track released just in time for summer, from catchy lyrics to a pumping beat. “The track has a summery sound which goes well with the atmosphere at this time of the year here in Malta,” Jeremy told Lovin Malta. “We believe that music is a way of expression which can affect people in different ways. Our music focuses on common experiences everyone goes through at some point in their life, making it easier to relate to.”

And relatable is definitely something that pops to mind as soon as you watch the video. A bustling nightclub, a shy attendee (probably because her lazy friends ditched last second, classic), and some slick dance moves all feature in the music video, which was filmed and edited by Abby Doneo.

This track is actually a sign of things to come for Jeremy, who wants Neon Culture to have a steady rollout of new music every two to four months.

“Eliza and I have a second song recorded and lined up to be released later on this summer, and there are a few more unfinished tracks in progress,” Jeremy told Lovin Malta. “There will also be other artists joining the project as collaborators, but that will have to be a surprise for now!”

“This is just the beginning of a long journey and we want to keep sharing our dance music with the local and international audience,” Jeremy assured us, clearly gearing up for a busy 2018.
