WATCH: Maltese Busker Draws In Huge Crowd In London

Leaving everything you know behind to pursue a dream can be scary, but sometimes taking the leap can offer huge rewards. Local musician Kevin Paul Calleja got to experience that thrill when his busking experience on the streets of London turned into his own personal show.

“In that moment I sincerely felt the genuine power of music,” he tells Lovin Malta. “I confirmed how music is definitely a universal language. I saw people from different parts of the world in front of me who all travelled to London for their own different reasons united in one place.

“That moment was truly magical”

Calleja, who is just 23-years-old, lives by the mart that happiness is all about the journey, and not the destination, so he lives his life to reflect that mentality. “My plans are simple; to be happy and this makes me happy.”

Asked if he had any advice for those who wished to experience the thrill of a busking session that resonated with so many, Kevin Paul was bashful in his dismissal of his own importance in the outcome. “Honestly I don’t feel like I can give any advice to other artists and musicians to make it in the music industry, I didn’t do anything particularly special. All I did was booked a flight for me and my guitar to give myself a new experience. And I recommend that every who has a dream similar to mine should do that too.”

Adventure is also a big thing for the young singer, who encourages everyone to go out and seek new experience. “Never let anyone change your mind about what you love. In the long run, the last thing you want is for your own self-doubt to hold you back from pursuing what you love.”

London wasn’t Kevin’s first experience with busking internationally. A few years ago he left the island for a month to explore music in Berlin and to lose himself in a new space. “It gives me a chance to refresh myself, and to reinvigorate the passion for music on my journey.”
