WATCH: The New Parvis At Ta’ Pinu Looks Even More Breathtaking From The Sky And On A Winter Day

The National Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu is one of Gozo’s most photogenic churches… and that’s saying something, considering the sister island is full of drop-dead gorgeous sights.

Following a €106,000 project which saw the parvis being transformed into the astonishing Mużajk tar-Rużarju last summer, it seems like the church’s parvis looks even more breathtaking on a sunny winter day.

The drone footage, uploaded by Stephen Borg earlier this week, shows off some of the church’s best features, set alongside Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata for that extra touch of epic.

Back in May 2017, the Gozo Ministry had provided a €106,000 grant towards the parvis restoration project. Then-Minister for Gozo Anton Refalo had visited the Sanctuary and announced that the Ministry had entered into an agreement with the National Administration of Ta’ Pinu to carry out parts of the restoration project on the parvis. Used as a car park over the years, the parvis had over the years suffered extensive damage.

The project included mosaics depicting the 20 Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. Internationally renowned mosaic artist Father Marco Rupnik worked on the mosaics in Rome.

In late June, an official inauguration of the new parvis was held, showing off the stunning restoration works for the first time.

Nearly one year later and with winter well underway, this latest drone footage really helped depict the grandiosity of it all. Add the bright greenery of Gozo on a winter day, and Stephen Borg’s footage really helps to add justice to one of the most beautiful spots on the Maltese Islands.
