Malta is renowned for its array of selfish drivers and kings of the road, but this could very well take the biscuit.

Mobile phone footage published by the satirical Facebook page The LOL Post shows a school van driver complaining to a medic that an ambulance is blocking her path.

“Can’t the driver just move a little bit?” she asks. “I want to pass through here with my schoolchildren.”

The medic repeatedly and patiently informs her that ambulances take priority over all other vehicles and that, in any case, the driver is assisting with the patient.

After she is told to wait, the school van driver demands to know how for how long, a question the medic is unable to reply.

“Ah, so you’re basically telling me I should just leave schoolchildren waiting in the middle of the road then…” the school van driver says.

“You can reverse and pass through another road,” the medic responds in an exasperated voice, to which the school van driver retreats to her vehicle, muttering “Mhux hekk…tajba wkoll!’
