Many people will recognise Maxine Pace from her participation in previous editions of the Maltasong For Europe Contest. But now, the 18-year-old Maltese singer is set to take the local music scene by storm, and if the first release from her debut album is anything to go by, we’ve got another pop princess on our hands.

Just unleashed onto the world, Maxine’s Earthquake is a bouncy banger produced by Maltese DJ/producer Siconix made for the airwaves. Accompanying the song is an eye-catching video that’s part signature Steven Levi Vella (who brought his mastery as director), part independent-woman-who-don’t-need-no-man, and all parts unicorn-riding, baseball-swinging awesomeness.

“The past year and a half has been quite life-changing,” Maxine told Lovin Malta. “And throughout my life, the way I could express my emotions has been through music. We have been working on the album for over a year and I have been part of all the process, from the production side to the melodies and all the lyrics. Each song on the album is like my diary each song represents a part of the journey I have had to go through.”

Earthquake is a fun song, and it gives you a bit of an idea of what the album will sound like,” Maxine said. “I had so much filming the video. It was my first ever video and Steven Levi Vella really brought the song to life with his vision.”

Maxine’s debut album will be releasing later this November, and has seen a big team get behind her to make her dream come true. “The whole team at Wicked and Loud were a massive part of this journey as they pushed me to my limits to produce an album which I’m really proud of,” Maxine said. “Obviously, I could not leave out Muxu, who isn’t only the person behind all the lyrics, but also the person who was there to experience all the different emotions with me and transfer them into this album.”
