Yellow paint, tberfil and LEDs spelling out Bon?u. A short one-minute video that just mysteriously dropped on Facebook has left us very confused… but incredibly intrigued.

Posted on Friday morning by London-Valletta architecture, interior and industrial design whizzes Mizzi Studio, the clip teases what looks like a reinvented version of the old yellow buses that defined Malta for generations (and still feature in numerous souvenir shops around the island).

The silhouette – which looks straight out of some Tesla-inspired electric truck – seems to be an ultra modern version of the old Bedfords and Dodges we all fell in love with when we were young.

The traditional tberfil designs, the yellow paint… it’s all here and we’re all here for it

OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD

Earlier this year, together with his team at Mizzi Studio, architect Jonathan Mizzi was nominated for the FX Breakthrough Talent Award 2017

Just to give you a taste of why this local talent was singled out in the highly competitive design industry, think back to his studio’s fabulous creation for Colicci at Westfield London. This marvellous copper creation has already been raking in the accolades, having been shortlisted in four categories at the International Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, as well as a win at the Retail Week Interiors Awards for Store Design of the Year 2014.

So it’s safe to say we’re excited AF to see what this video could mean for the future of Malta’s buses.

When contacted about the mysterious video, Mizzi Studio said they could not comment for the time being

So it looks like we’re going to have to keep on guessing for now, but damn are we excited for this!
