WATCH: Young Maltese Boy Duets With Everybody’s Celebrity Crush Ira Losco, And Impresses Us All With His Voice
At the bright young age of just 14 years old, one Maltese student just lived out half of the island’s dream; singing a duet with Malta’s queen of pop Ira Losco. Or, as Ben Camille would say, a duwit.
No, we still haven’t let that one go.
Performing at his school’s annual talent show, SAC Talent Night, Nathaniel braved the stage and an auditorium full of his peers and their parents to belt out the song that’s been stuck in everyone’s head since Michela Pace sang it on X Factor; Shallow.
And boy, did he do Bradley Cooper justice
It’s no easy feat singing with a voice as powerful as Ira Losco’s, but Nathaniel stood his ground and owned his part of the song. And when the harmonies kicked in? Magic.
Obviously, Ms. Ira more than owned her notes, reminding us all that she’s more than a flashy outfit and catchy pop-song – she can actually sing. And pretty damn well. And it’s so great to watch Malta’s youngsters keeping up with Malta’s musical royalty. The two were accompanied by another talented student, Jaime Gilson, who tickled those ivory keys like he’s been doing it all his life.
There were loads of other great performances on the night, including this rock band called RUSH that I think deserves a shoutout because their song choice speaks to the 2000’s emo inside of me.
