We Asked A Random Name Generator To Come Up With Better Names For X Factor Malta’s Groups… And It Delivered
What may be the most intense leg of the X Factor Malta, the Six Chair Challenge, has come to an end. We’re now moving on to the Judges’ Houses and then the Live Finals, but yesterday we were introduced to some new contestants.
OK not new new, but we officially met the groups that had been formed towards the end of the Boot Camp episodes. And while that was exciting, the truth is we only really cared about one thing for the whole episodes: their names.
Now I know we’ve known the group names for a while, especially the ones that auditioned as groups. But last weekend’s episode really gave us the time to mull over their… choices.
Our thoughts, in conclusion? They suck.
So we entered a key word per group into a random band name generator to see what it would come up with, and TBH we’re not disappointed. In fact, the more we thought about them, they actually made a lot of sense. Or at least, way more than the ones we were presented last Sunday.
Here they are in all their glory:
1. Kayati is…
Sister Dip.
Because they’re sisters. Simple enough, and a lucky strike.
2. 4th Line is…
Soul Reward.
Because Howard, as he pointed out many times, joined them together because he wanted a ‘soul and R’n’B group’. And also its a pun on the phrase ‘sole reward’.
3. Horizon is…
Duo Inverse.
Because they’re a duo, who sing songs, written in verses.
4. Prism is…
Girls Revisited.
Because they’re a powerful girl group who are going to reinvent what it means to be a girl.
5. SYSTM12 is…
Frequency System.
Because we wanted to keep the (actual) word ‘system’ in there, and sound waves create a frequency… and they sing and make sounds.
6. Xtreme is…
Power Of You.
Because they’re also a powerful girl group who are going to spread the message of girl power to the island.
BONUS: Clelis remains the same
We know they shouldn’t be on this list because they didn’t go through to the next round, but we just had to give them a shoutout for doing the most Maltese thing possible: joining two names into one. Josmar who?
