Why The New ‘iPhone X’ Was Literally Designed For Maltese People

After months of anticipation (and extremely accurate rumours), Apple’s ten-year-anniversay iPhone X was finally unveiled last night. The new device is already being called “the future of the smartphone” and has everyone around the world talking.

Whether you’re an Apple fanboy or a hardcore Android user, here’s why the new iPhone X looks like it was designed entirely with the Maltese population in mind.

1. Its screen is bright enough to fight off the Maltese sun

For people all around the world, that means a gorgeous screen with practically no ugly side panelling and a great picture thanks to the phone’s OLED Super Retina Display.

For Malta, that means after all these years, you can finally read a message in the bright Maltese sun.

2. It’s built to survive the clumsiest of hands

We’re not saying Malta has horribly bumpy roads or Maltese people tend to be a little clumsy… but Malta has horribly bumpy roads, and the Maltese people tend to be a little clumsy. Luckily it’s made of the strongest glass-front yet and has a stainless steel case.

3. No one is getting into your phone, not even that one guy from mass who kinda looks like you

The new Face ID technology is guaranteed to work with a margin of error of 1:1,000,000. That’s more than double the population of Malta! The fingerprint sensing technology which previously dominated (and unlocked) Apple devices had a margin of error of just about one in 50,000. That’s how possible it was for a random person with similar physical features to unlock your personal device.

With a cranked up margin of error that greatly outnumbers the country’s entire population, unlocking your phone has never been so secure. And hey; it’s safe to say Maltese people are a very unique bunch when it comes to looks.

4. Emoji will finally be as expressive as the Maltese

Having a vast (and ever-increasing) library of emoji was always a great thing, but Apple just went and took the game to a whole new level with Animoji. Now, the previously-mentioned Face Recognition technology will also be used to animate emoji to mirror your own expressions, also giving you the option to record a message using whatever emoji you’d like.

Finally, Maltese people can express the right amount of excitement or anger with emoji without having to use 24 of them in a row.

5. The battery life has been extended by two hours

Sure, home is never more than a 15 minute drive away, and power banks have become a very big part of people’s lives. In between Maltese people’s habit to get lost in incessant chatting and our love of selfies, however, getting more battery life is always essential. Even with that huge edge-to-edge display, however, Apple have somehow managed to increase the iPhone 7’s battery life by two hours for its new X model.

6. Goodbye screams of ‘Ara l-wajer!’

Apple might be a bit late to the party, but the iPhone X supports Qi Wireless Charging, which means it works with just about all the equipment that’s already out there for other smartphones. Apple has also designed a new charging mat capable of charging multiple devices, from Apple Watch to AirPods, all at once, so it’s finally time to say bye to another set of wires.

7. It has a whole new Portrait Mode that was made for those #PerfSelfiesWithTheBesties

With a whole new dual-lens camera system on the back and a True Depth camera on the front, one of the new iPhone’s best features is yet again its photo-capturing capabilities. Add to the mix a new portrait lightning features that lets you add professional lighting effects to your shots (even after you take them!), and Malta’s in for a whole new era of selfie-fanatics.

8. It’s sweat and sea resistant

Read as: “Don’t worry Malta; we know the sea is literally always minutes away, and we want to help you not live in constant fear of dropping your phone in any form of liquid all the time.”

Because we all know that, deep down, half of Malta was watching last night’s keynote thinking:

BONUS: It’s fucking expensive

And we all know we love a good brag about the price of our latest, must-have gadget.

As preorders currently stand on Apple’s European site, the 64GB iPhone X is €1,179, with the 256GB one sitting on a hefty, laptop-territory €1,349.
