WATCH: X Factor Malta Contestant Makes It Past Chair Challenge With Stunning Original Rap Song
So, the boys really did that on the X Factor Malta Sunday night, huh?
From crazy covers, to emotional outbursts, to original songs… the boys’ chair challenge episode really stepped up to the girls’ one from the week before. Now, we have the six boys who will be advancing to the next round of the competition.
But amidst all the ġenn, an early stand-out contestant really made sure to keep his mark on the competition.
Owen Leuellen first became one of audience’s favourites when he rapped an original song for his first audition, earning him four yeses without any hint of a doubt from the judges. Owen continued to impress with his vocal ability and originality throughout bootcamp, eventually making it to the infamous Six Chair Challenge on Sunday night’s episode.
If there was any doubt that Owen deserves to be in this competition, he eradicated it last Sunday when he performed another original song, ‘Rock Solid’.
Not only did he impress with his meaningful lyrics, strong stage presence, impressive clarity… he also sang, and pretty well too!
He’s clearly more comfortable rapping than singing, but his ability to carry a tune is definitely commendable. And the cute little shoutout to his mother at the end of the song definitely made our hearts grow a little bit.
