Yesterday’s Unforeseen Lightning Storm In Malta Made For Some Impressive Shots
Amidst unusually warm temperatures and 24 hours after the weather forecast literally read ‘Dust’, last week came to a close with an impromptu thunderstorm yesterday evening.
While it didn’t last too long, the storm literally lit up a lot of people’s social media feeds, with a multitude shots being uploaded onto Facebook and Instagram. Mosta and its towering rotunda seems to have offered some of the best views around the island, but there were also impressive scenes from the St. Paul’s waterfront and the Triton Square in Valletta to name but a few.
Here’s what went down yesterday evening, as told by some of our favourite shots.
People out on a Sunday coastal walk could easily tell that a storm was incoming…
… and pages like The Weather Page Malta announced the incoming storm in the evening
Soon enough, the storm made it to coastal areas like St. Paul’s Bay
That’s when the storm made it to the mainland… and when impressive shots started rolling in
Countless people tried to get the perfect shot and capture lightning across the island
Thankfully, there was enough to go around for everyone
Churches made for some of the most dramatic shots on the night
And that was particularly the case with towering parishes like the ones in Mosta, or even Qormi
The night had some of the weirdest lightning patterns on offer
And things quickly got dramatic AF
Of course, much like storms in Malta, it didn’t take long for the rain, thunder and lightning to die down, and it all made way to a quieter night.
This morning started off with some strong winds which are set to persist for the rest of the week, but sunnier and warmer days are also on the menu.
