A nine-year-old Maltese singer has joined the ranks of young kids with big voices on the island as she gears up for an international competition in Sochi, Russia.

Yulan Law joins the likes of Gaia Cauchi and Ela Mangion by becoming a finalist in the New Wave Junior competition.

Competing against 10 other singers from around the world, Yulan will perform an original song as well as a cover in the hopes of impressing the judges and claiming the top spot Malta has yet to win.

Malta’s closest participant was Ela in 2016, where she nabbed a respectable second place.

Originally auditioning with a mashup of Beyoncé’s Listen and Disney’s Almost There, Yulan pushed her way to the front of a pack of over 100 contestants to make the final stage. Below, you can watch her original audition, as well as her message from Russia earlier this week.

Good luck Yulan!
