5 Kilos & €300,000 Worth Of Suspected Cocaine Seized During Kalkara Drug Bust
Five kilos of suspected cocaine worth around €300,000 were found during a Kalkara drug bust which led to the arrest of two people.
A 59-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested yesterday after the police were informed that an illegal drug deal was going to allegedly take place.
During the day yesterday, police officers followed a vehicle after being told that it was likely in possession of illicit substances. As soon as they arrived in Kalkara, the police surrounded the car being driven by the man and arrested him.
A search of the vehicle revealed five kilograms of a substance that is suspected to be cocaine. At the same site, the police arrested the woman who was in another vehicle and who was allegedly involved in the planned drug deal.
It turns out that the substance would have been worth €300,000 if it was sold.
Police Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
