A five-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was hit by a car being driven by a 52-year-old man in Naxxar. 

Police were informed of the incident in Triq Leli Falzon yesterday at around 6.30pm. Upon arriving at the scene, officials quickly discovered that the young boy was hit by a Chevrolet Cruze being driven by the man – a resident of Żebbuġ, Gozo.

The boy was assisted by a medical team at the site before being rushed to Mater Dei by ambulance where he was certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici opened an inquiry while police investigations are still ongoing.
