In a wonderful turn of events, all the cats which found themselves homeless after a local sanctuary had no choice but to close down, have found their forever homes.

This comes after 40 Maltese cats (which had gone up to 58 after Lovin Malta’s initial report) were left virtually homeless after Żurrieq’s Shiny Paws cat sanctuary announced it will be closing its doors.

“All cats from Shiny Paws the closing down sanctuary are sorted and placed in a safe place. They were three hard months where several times I was going to give up and do like most people and authorities, who should have helped, and let them be released outside,” local cat fosterer and activist Joanna Mallia said.

“Thanks to those who supported me. Thanks to those who donated to help me pay vet fees, sanctuaries to take them in, and flights to send to Germany. Thanks also to those who came forward to adopt some of them,” she said.

“It was one of the worst situations in my life where I felt that the lives of 58 innocent creatures were in my hands,” she expressed.

“At least from this situation, I learned who my true friends are and who are those people that are only there in good times.”

She continued to say that although she won’t mention any names, she noted how through this situation she met new people who she’s lucky to have met.

“I am truly grateful.”

From innocent kittens to blind felines, the cats definitely couldn’t go back on the streets, after the sanctuary had to close down due to a lack of financial aid.

Well done for all your efforts!
