As of today, 15th June, no more demolition or excavation works are permitted in tourist hot spots around Malta and Gozo until 30th September.

In Gozo, the ban includes various areas in Marsalforn and Xlendi, also including Qala, Għasri, Mġarr, Għajnsielem, Sannat, Xagħra, and San Lawrenz.

The full list can be accessed through this link, and citizens are encouraged to look out for works in case any illegal demolition or excavation takes place within this period.

Just this morning, excavation works were taking place in St Julian’s, with St Julian’s Mayor Albert Buttigieg reminding people of the notice that comes into effect today.

If you encounter works taking place in these areas during this timeframe, place a report with the Buildings and Construction Authority by adhering to the following instructions:

Any demolition and excavation work carried out between 15th June and 30th September 2022, in the identified localities and streets, may be reported to the Building and Construction Authority on 8004 9000, during office hours and on 99637508 (Malta) and 99098855 (Gozo) after office hours or email [email protected]
