Battle Of The Beasts: Strongman Competition Hits Malta
Filming is underway in Malta for the first edition of “Battle of the Beasts”, a new television series that blends sports competition with family entertainment.
The event is scheduled to take place between 2nd and 4th October across various locations on the island, with a press conference featuring 10 of the world’s strongest men set for 30th September at Campus Hub in Msida. An official weigh-in will follow on 1st October at Mercury Tower.
Eddie Hall, one of the world’s most renowned strongmen and a popular social media figure, has been preparing for the series over the past week by visiting gyms and meeting fans across Malta. He expressed his excitement about returning to the country after his visit last year, describing Malta as the perfect location to host the competition.
Hall will present the show alongside an international line-up of co-hosts, including Leah Shutkever, Paul Smith, Denise Kim Gafá, Tommy Fury, Brian Shaw, and Olivier Richters.
The contestants in “Battle of the Beasts” include reigning World’s Strongest Man Rayno Nel, brothers Luke and Tom Stoltman, Mark Felix, Trey Mitchell, Mitchell Hooper, Paddy Haynes, Eddie Williams, Pa O’Dwyer, and current Strongest Man on Earth Evan Singleton. Audiences will see these athletes compete in a series of challenges that showcase strength, endurance, and resilience.
Directed by Roel Reiné, known for projects such as “Halo and Death Race”, the series is backed by Visit Malta and Duelbits, which serves as the headline sponsor. Duelbits’ Chief Marketing Officer, Jasper Hoekert, described the partnership as a natural fit, highlighting the alignment between the company’s focus on high-stakes entertainment and the intensity of the competition.
The show is being produced by Matt Hookings and Luke Croft-Faulkner of Camelot Films, a company with an established history of filming in Malta. This marks Camelot’s fifth project on the island since 2019. The company previously made headlines for bringing Russell Crowe back to Malta for “Prizefighter: in 2022, marking his return to the country since “Gladiator” in 1999.
Founded in West London in 2013, Camelot Films is an award-winning production company with bases in London and Malta and recent expansions into Dubai and Los Angeles. Over the past five years, Camelot has produced feature films ranging from $2 million to $25 million and structured several third-party projects valued at more than $25 million.
