Bernard Grech Sits Down With Matteo Grima, After ‘Failed Justice’ System Sees Driver That Left Him In A Coma Walk Free
Opposition Leader Bernard Grech sat down with Matteo Grima, the Mtarfa youth whose story took social media by storm following the acquittal of the man who ran him over back in 2020.
“I just met Matteo Grima who shared his story with me. Matteo is a very inspiring young man who managed to teach me a lot in an hour’s meeting,” Grech wrote on his Facebook page.
“Politics gives us these unique opportunities which continue to motivate us to work for a just society,” the PN leader continued as he spoke with the youth about what he went through.
Matteo had taken to social media to express his disappointment in the failure of the courts to hold the man accountable who changed his life forever.

Grima spent two weeks in a coma as a result of the accident and had to have a titanium plate installed to replace one third of his skull which was lost in the incident.
In a shocking dereliction of duty, the Maltese courts let the driver go scot-free after concluding the charges against him – driving dangerously and running over a person with their car – were time-barred.
